I've been researching Manhattan in 1882-83, quite intensively. May I ask why you have named this 'Victorian' America? I haven't come across that combination before. Victorian England, sure, but America in the 19th century has a number of distinct eras. No?

what a great question!

while i realize that the term "Victorian" more commonly refers to England, it's the familiar term for what we associate with bustles and frock coats, carriages, and coal power, etc.

America of the 19th century certainly has its distinctive eras, but Victoria's reign was nicely long enough to cover all the best ones including the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the Gilded Era. part of why i chose "Victorian" was that it encompasses the period of 19th century America that i'm personally interested in and excludes the Regency Period, which "19th century" America would not. i just didn't want to get into a whole Jane Austen thing because nothing screams British more than that.
